Greetings Hallyburton Families,

My name is Rich Linens, and it is my privilege to be at Hallyburton Academy as your Principal. I am proud that my educational career, which began in 1996 with Burke County Public Schools, is continuing with you. I have served as a teacher, football and track coach, assistant principal and athletic director. 

My career began at East Burke High School, during which time I earned my Masters in Education Administration. My classroom experience includes teaching Science, Physical Education and Health, and Drivers Education at East Burke. 

My administrative experience began in 2007 when I was a part of the inaugural team that  opened Patton High School. At Patton, I served as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. My middle school experience began at Heritage Middle where I served as interim principal and assistant principal before serving two years at Liberty Middle School as the Assistant Principal. I served at Table Rock Middle for one year as Assistant Principal, and Principal for two Years. My first year at Hallyburton Academy began in the fall of 2022. 

I earned my undergraduate degree from Elon University. While attending Elon, I lettered as a member of a successful football program. I earned my masters degree and administrative license from Gardner Webb University.

While at Elon I met my wife of 32 years. We raised three children, all of whom are all successful graduates of the Burke County School System. 

I will continue to lead our committed teachers in establishing academic opportunities through the use of 21st century techniques and technology while establishing a safe environment in which to learn as we prepare our students to become productive citizens.

I encourage and invite all parents, family members and the Hallyburton community to join in on the task of educating our students. Please know that I maintain an open door policy and encourage all stakeholders to get involved, and be a part of our school.
